Click injection is a form of mobile ad fraud where malicious apps on a user's device intercept a legitimate user's click just before they install a new app. These fraudulent apps then simulate clicks on ads from the new app, attributing the installation to their own ad interaction. Essentially, click injection exploits the attribution process used by mobile advertising platforms to wrongfully claim credit for app installations that they didn't genuinely influence. This practice can artificially inflate the number of installs attributed to certain ads, leading to inaccurate performance metrics and wastage of advertising budgets.
